Context and challenge
INVENT needed a production system for Big Five assessments used in recruitment and employee development. A questionnaire alone would produce a number without context. The platform had to turn answers into five defensible trait scores, compare them with company norms and preserve the psychologist’s recommendation for a specific role.
The scoring required care. Several questions contribute to each trait, selected items score in reverse and raw totals only become meaningful after comparison with a reference group. Recruiters also needed two assessment lengths, secure candidate links and a record that could answer who took the test, which norms were used and who approved the recommendation.
Solution
I built the candidate flow, scoring engine, administration panel and partner integration as one system. Angular runs the assessment and the analytical interface. Node.js with Express calculates results and serves the signed API. MySQL keeps candidates, sessions, norm sets, answers and recommendations in a relational record.
The platform offers a 50-question development assessment and a 20-question recruitment assessment, each with its own time limit. The scoring engine groups items into five traits, applies reverse scoring where required and converts raw totals into percentiles against the selected company norm. The result page shows bars, a radar profile, raw scores and percentiles, then lets the psychologist record suitability and risks for the role.
Administrators generate individual test links, filter results by position and seniority, inspect incomplete sessions and review aggregate company profiles. Partners start sessions from their own systems through a signed API and receive status updates without moving candidate data by hand.
